We love Gemma Wards gorgeous blow-dry [Harpers Bazaar], so checkout the tools of the trade + some pro tips to help you achieve a big, bouncy blow!
How to for our featured big blow-outs, for two hair types: curly / frizzy hair + fine / thin hair
Curly / frizzy hair
Curls are making a comeback, but for those with naturally curly hair, sometimes you just want a cascade of flowingly straight tresses that glisten and gleam as smooth as silk, instead of your normally untamed crazy curls... Let Bumble and bumble gently take you by the hand and with a few easy steps take you from the long + winding road to the straight and narrow!
Shampoo + condition with Creme de coco shampoo to moisturize and defrizz all-in-one, and Creme de coco conditioner.
Staying power, an absolute must for the big + bouncy do. Spritz your towel dried hair with detangling and lubricating prep to lengthen and strengthen the longevity of your blowout, use a wide tooth comb to detangle and smooth before you go any further.
Work a little Straight through damp hair with your fingers. Arm yourself with a good paddle brush or large round brush, and some blowdry muscles - to smooth your tresses into a curtain of luscious, glowing locks, a strong / high tension blow-dry is the way all the pros work to tame the beast (so to speak...)
Shimmer, glisten and gleam, polish and shine, glint and glimmer - however you envisage your finished silky textured sheen of hair, spray this on your freshly blow-dried locks and let it do its thing.
Finish with a light hold spray if needed, as long as it gives you some natural movement and a little control.
Fine / limp hair
A full bouncy blowdry often seems unattainable when your hair is baby fine and limp - you've even been known to lust after the frustrations of thick wavy hair (just for a day...). Don't despair, wild and crazy curls may not be yours, but a 5 minute blowout is enviable when your frizzy headed friends spend hours working to attain a cascade of smooth, glistening locks. Bumble and bumble come to the resuce of the fine-haired damsel.
Shampoo + condition with thickening shampoo and thickening conditioner to start the volume + shine process ball rolling.
Prep is always the next step, and is especially good for fine, flyaway hair as it helps to lubricate your damp locks which means less breakage when you gently comb and detangle in preparation for your blowdry.
Styling lotion is a gentle, light-weight formula that continues the next level of body and shine for fine and fragile hair.
A little heavy handed-ness using a good quality paddle brush or large round brush, use those blowdry muscles to work volume and smoothness into your tresses. A strong / high tension blow-dry, section by section, with volume and lift at the roots, is your key to constructing a dazzling mane, and avoiding a floppy mop. Velcro rollers and a little teasing at the roots will also work wonders when you are building a voluminous do.
To boost your blowout, a blast of hair powder at the roots will give you texture and staying power, help to absorb oilyness, and is great for between colors too!
