About Givenchy
1927, in Beauvais, France, was the year Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy was born, with a passion for fashion being noted from as early as 10. Raised by his artistic grandfather, whose specialty was the detailed art of tapestry, he studied part-time at the Ecole de Beaux Arts, while he worked for the talented Elas Schiaparelli.
Always a pioneer of style, Hubert de Givenchy is known as much for his quality couture, as he is the gentleman of couture, he styles and sculpts his luxurious-lady-like designs which enchant the most elegant woman - including the iconic style Queen Audery Hepburn (whom he dressed from the moment they met).
LMVH (who also own the fashion houses including: Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Christian Lacroix and Kenzo) bought out the classical designer in 1988. Following this takeover, a number of designers have passed through the doors of Givenchy: John Galliano, Alexandra MacQueen, Julien Macdonald, and currently Riccardo Tischi.
In 2000 the house of Givenchy brought out a new cosmetics line called "Teint Miroir".
