Adidas was founded in Germany in the 1920's by shoe maker Adolf Dassler, (or Adi Dassler - hence the origin of the name), who started making shoes when he was 20. Initially manufacturing sports apparel, specializing is shoes. Adidas AG (Adidas Group) is typically identified by the three matching colored, parallel stripes - this symbol is distinguishable as the logo on all Adidas products, including the fragrance ranges.
Coty was enlisted as the house behind the fragrance expansion of the Adidas range of lifestyle products which includes eau de toilettes and personal care products, with the launch of anti-perspirants and deodorants in 2000.
Stella McCartney established a highly successful partnership with Adidas in 2004, adding her designer flare with the "Adidas by Stella McCartney" range of womens performance apparel.
